Today, the President awarded the Padma Bhushan to Nandamuri Balakrishna, a well-known actor and Hindupur MLA. His clothing was unusual and attracted a lot of attention.

For the special event, Balakrishna donned the traditional pancha, kurta, and kanduva. He was beaming when he accepted the honor.


The award was given to Balakrishna, also known as Balayya, in recognition of his outstanding contributions to politics, film, and charitable work through the NTR Trust. He consistently encourages and supports the Basavatarakam Indo-American Cancer Facility in Hyderabad's Banjara Hills.

He accepted the honor in the presence of his family. A video of his celebrations in Delhi with close family and political associates went viral earlier in the day. When he said, "People see the character and the message it gives, rather than Balakrishna as a person," he was being authentically modest and true to himself.
