East Bay Punk Music Drama ‘Out Come the Wolves,’ Based on Rancid Album, Finds Cast (Exclusive)

Based on the Rancid album, the East Bay punk music drama "Outcome the Wolves" has cast members (exclusive).

Producer Danny Peykoff directs the film for the first time.

Emerging talent Out Come the Wolves, an independent drama that marks producer Danny Peykoff's directorial debut, stars Orlando Norman, Spence Moore II, Heidi Grace Engerman, and Cassady McClincy Zhang.

The film, which started filming this week in Portland, Oregon, also stars Sam Rechner, West Mulholland, and Curran Walters. Peykoff formed Big Newport Studios, which is funding and supporting the production. This is the company's first project.

Wolves is a tale of perseverance and aspirations in a violent and desperate world, set against the backdrop of the East Bay punk music scene in the mid-1990s. Norman, Moore, Engerman, and Zhang portray a close-knit group of friends from high school who are trying to get out of the run-down city where they reside. The story, which follows the teenagers, will ask who escapes and who will be eaten when the wolves come out to hunt, but it's not that simple when the streets are teeming with prophets and metaphorical predators at every corner.

The drama was written by Peykoff, Jason, and Jamie Neese and was inspired by the punk rock band Rancid's 1995 album of the same name. The twin brothers are well-known for their roles in Cruel Summer and Umbrella Academy. The Neese are co-producing the Western trilogy, Horizon: An American Saga, which Peykoff is executive producing for Kevin Costner.

Wolves are being produced by Peykoff, the Neese brothers, Glenn Kleczkowski, and Paul Hadad.

Norman's next appearances include season 2 of Apple TV's post-apocalyptic series Silo and Lasse Hallström's upcoming film The Map that Leads to You.

In Michael B. Jordan's popular Creed III, Moore portrayed a child "Damian Anderson," who was later portrayed as an adult by Jonathan Majors. Additional credits include Grownish and Lee Daniel's The Wonder Years for ABC, and Berlanti Productions' All American and Superman & Lois for The CW.

Engerman appeared in 2021's Candyman in a gory way. She has since starred in The Bold and the Beautiful for CBS, Chicago Fire for NBC, and Power Book IV: Force for Starz.

Zhang's most well-known role is that of "Lydia," a long-running series regular on AMC's The Walking Dead. She is well noted for her portrayal as the child “Molly Strand” (portrayed by Melanie Lynskey as an adult) in the first season of Hulu’s critically acclaimed Castle Rock.

Mulholland will next be seen in the much awaited Steven Soderbergh horror movie Presence, while Rechner previously starred in Steven Spielberg's The Fablemans at Universal Pictures. Walters' most well-known roles are those of Robin and Red Hood from the DC television series Titans.
