Television actress Gulki Joshi, who
is well-known for playing the brave and humorous Haseena Malik in Maddam Sir,
recently revealed a very disturbing recollection from her life. It emphasizes
the risks that celebrities face when their popular devotion degenerates into
unbridled hysteria.
During a visit to Ranchi a few years
ago, Gulki recalled a particularly terrifying experience in an interview with
Filmymantra. This was quite some time ago. I had to give Mr. Dhoni an award
when I traveled to Ranchi for the IPL. "My show, Nadaan Parinde (2014),
was doing well at the time, and because of its popularity, I was invited to the
event," she wrote.
An enjoyable outing swiftly turned
into a chaotic situation. "As soon as I went outdoors, a crowd surrounded
me totally. It wasn't simply enthusiasm; I actually felt endangered because it
was so physically overwhelming. In the midst of the commotion, pushing, and
shoving, I had the terrifying idea that I would be assaulted in the
crowd," she stated.
Fortunately, security guards stepped
in just in time. "The security team showed up just as things were getting
out of hand and somehow got me to leave the crowd. I was taken to safety by
them. However, the fear persisted. I was shaken by it. With obvious passion,
Gulki said, "That was the only time I've ever really been afraid of the
crowd, of the people."
Gulki's experience at the event wasn't totally depressing, despite the terrible
encounter. She spoke warmly and admiringly about her encounter with cricketing
great MS Dhoni. "When I eventually got to meet Mr. Dhoni, he was kind,
modest, and grounded—everything you could want in a hero. He must have been
worn out after the game, but he patiently greeted each fan, grinned, took
pictures, and made them all feel valued," Gulki remarked.
"In that moment, I realized what true greatness is," she said
thoughtfully. No drama, no haughtiness, simply unadulterated humility. I was
really affected by that. It served as a reminder that genuine humility and
talent work best together.
"While recognition feels
rewarding, incidents like what happened in Ranchi make you realize how
important security and boundaries are," Gulki said, addressing the darker
side of celebrity. A mob mentality can quickly jeopardize personal safety, and
crowds aren't always aware of the consequences of their behavior."
Gulki Joshi is still making a name for herself in the workplace. She recently
explored a totally different, multi-layered side of storytelling in the daring
and personal anthology series Hasratein 2.
The series boasts an ensemble cast
including Dolly Chawla, Sanam Johar, Vivek Dahiya, Vinit Kakar, Amika Shail,
Saisha Sehgal, Zuber K. Khan, Karan Sharma, Nyrraa M Banerji, Param Singh, Puja
Banerjee, Sandeep Kumaar, Akanksha Puri, Rishaab Chauhaan, and Navveen Sharrma.
