'Mickey 17' star remembers being so "frightened" that he "fell asleep" holding two kitchen knives.
In a recent interview with Bong Joon Ho, his director for Mickey 17, for GQ, the actor revealed why he "can't watch horror movies anymore" as an adult.
"When I was younger, I would watch a lot of dark content and think, 'Yeah, this is cool.'" I'm overly sensitive now," he acknowledged. You would assume it would go the other way, but it's odd. You grow less afraid of them [movies] as you age. I'm no longer able to watch scary movies.
As Bong asked whether it was because the actor "became a dad," Pattinson laughed and admitted that his horror movie phobias "happened before that though." The actor and his girlfriend, Suki Waterhouse, have a daughter together.
Later, the Twilight star recalled a recent incident in which he became "very frightened" to the point that he actually dozed off with kitchen knives.
"I had to meet with the director, and after watching this horror film, I kept thinking that my house was being broken into," Pattinson remarked. I waited for the individual to enter while seated on my sofa and holding two kitchen knives. After that, I dozed off on the couch with them essentially in my neck.
When my girlfriend entered the room, she asked, "What's going on? Why are you sleeping with two knives in your face? Before joking, the Batman actor added, "It was probably a squirrel."
Noted. Avoid attempting to frighten Robert Pattinson.
